Some boutiques serve a very singular purpose. If you need a pair of shoes, you head to a shoe store. If you’re looking for a new jacket, you might visit an outdoor store. You get the idea. But there are some stores, rare though they may be, which offer a perfect eclectic mix of amazing finds. The Foundrie- 265 Chesterfield Mall is one local shop that is rockin’ this concept. Everything in this store is either vintage, handmade or independently produced. Owners Shelah McClymont and Elizabeth Hahn-Lawrence have chosen unique, whimsical things like handmade jewelry and felted stuffed animals for kids. Somehow it all works! The Foundrie is the kind of shop that makes you want to linger, to really take your time browsing because you don’t want to miss a thing.
“When I started this in 2009, I really wanted to bring these kinds of products to St. Louis because no one was selling them all in one place, ” explained McClymont. The concept took off and what was originally intended as a holiday boutique soon grew into a year round enterprise. Not only does The Foundrie give artists a venue, it also gives others an opportunity to create. Once a month, the shop offers a free craft night. All supplies are provided and you can check out the craft ahead of time on their website. Now that’s HANTASTIC! We’re talking coooool crafts, no orange juice can pencil holders here! For example, the February craft is a covered vintage book safe. Love it! Here’s a peek at what The Foundrie has in store:
– “Our biggest sellers are St. Louis themed items,” said McClymont. It’s easy to see why with these choices!
– So much amazing jewelry like vintage pieces, handmade items and lots with unusual materials.
– The Foundrie carries one of a kind clothing and accessories.
– And finally, here are some final amazing things that caught my eye!
As you can see, The Foundrie is a fun shop to visit! Check it out at Chesterfield Mall or see them online at: www.thefoundrie.com Happy shopping friends!
